DCA in Imagine-B5G Open Call #1.

DCA, which stands for Drone Care Angel (DCA): Mobile health monitoring as a service enabled by beyond 5G, by Load Interactive, Unipessoal Lda. (LOAD) and Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), is one of 15 projects that were selected for the first Open Call of Imagine-B5G.

The main goal of DCA is to validate beyond 5G features for a Drone Care Angel service, focusing on the real-time health monitoring of individuals on the move. This will be enabled by the transmission of a great amount of information collected and aggregated by a drone, while tracking a person on the move, with the support of additional data collected via available Internet of Things devices. Whenever an health-impacting incident is detected a top data tier is activated to enable a 360° perception of the scene via the increase of volume, complexity and/or richness of transmitted data.

The proposed solution will impact IMAGINE-B5G in different ways:

  • At the management level the targeted implementation can be used to validate or demonstrate the capabilities of new 5G/6G networks to handle high-bandwidth, low-latency applications, and the support of dynamic service performance requirements. For these validations, the Imagine-B5G platform and its orchestrator will have to effectively manage an adaptive slicing scheme that accommodates these stringent and dynamic workloads. This can demonstrate how the Imagine-B5G platform is ready to host a wide variety of applications with diverse resource demands;
  • At the societal level DCA aims to contribute for an improvement in Public Health, through an early detection of health issues, helping to prevent and control the spread of some diseases within the community;
  • At the technical level the trials within DCA trials will test the MEC components deployed in the Imagine-B5G infrastructure and their impact on healthcare scenarios while at the same time showing that 5G/6G networks can meet the demanding technical requirements of these applications, validating their readiness for such scenarios.

This project has already started its work in the IMAGINE-B5G first open call. If you want to learn more about this and the other selected projects stay tuned to our website and our social media channels.
