Telenor has won the Operator Network API Award at FutureNet World 2025.

Telenor has successfully won the Operator Network API Award at FutureNet World 2025 for the best example of an API use case(s) and monetisation. The winning entry was about strengthening 5G uptake and monetisation by simplifying 5G service ordering and making specialised network capabilities accessible to customers – such as ultra-low latency for Industry 4.0 and eHealth, portability for emergency networks and network exposure for third-party developers, among others.

Leveraging the power of APIs, AI and automation, B2B customers can express their needs in natural language conversations, which are then extracted as intents, translated to tailored private 5G service orders and fulfilled automatically through an orchestration stack. APIs played a central role in this pilot not just in terms of systems integration (using TM Forum, ETSI, REST and Kubernetes APIs), but also for exposing key capabilities such as policy control to customers (using 3GPP and CAMARA APIs).

This initiative has been made possible through the strategic collaboration with a strong partner ecosystem, including IMAGINE-B5G partners Nokia, Oslo University and Airbus. Nokia has provided a prototype for the AI-powered customer portal, the network and end-to-end service orchestrators, as well as an API aggregator platform. On the other hand, Oslo University and Airbus have provided the robotic hand and mission critical services, respectively, for the use case demonstrators.
